"I'll get drunk again, I'll be drunk again..." or my ideas for finding purpose in life

We're all born one way or another, head out or head in, naturally or via C-section, alone or with a life-long friend, with hair or bald, smiling or crying or yawning or babbling. We. Are. Born. And when we are born we have one purpose, to breathe. And that first breath, that lasts a lifetime. And once we take that second breath, it's gone and we have to find a new purpose. One made of sleeping, and bawling, and defecating, and gurgling. Essentially to be so exhaustingly adorable that we are kept safe by those who chose to care for us. That lifetime of a breath slowly dwindles away as we take hundreds and thousands of breaths, until seconds, then minutes, then hours, then days, and years, and decades and centuries become our lifetimes. Then we begin to forget our purpose.

It is my belief that we all have a purpose on this Earth be it big, small, narrow, fat, multi-lingual, invisible, indivisible, joint, divorced, polygamous (though we like to avoid those), multi-faceted, maybe even a single piece of paper, but we all have purpose.*

But how are we to find this purpose amidst all the tangled fishing lines hooked with truths and lies, and all of the decisions we must make, and all of the things we could possibly do. Perhaps we have long term and short term purposes. Or maybe our only purpose is to find purpose in life.

Ok, enough pondering, I think I strained part of my cerebral cortex (and waxed poetic a little to hard), the basic gist is as follows: how can we make the most out of our lives with our purpose and how the hell are we supposed to find out what that is?

Below I have compiled a list of things to do in order to discover ones purpose

1. Discover and explore your passion
2. Write down your goals for today, tomorrow, this week, this month, this year, this decade, this life
3. Experiment. You might not have all the test tubes from the Chemistry lab of heaven but use the ones you have, try not to cause an explosion. **
4. Find examples from others. What is their purpose in life? Maybe you can form a collage to stand in as a make-shift purpose.
5. Your purpose should not involve monetary, materialistic things (at least in my opinion) but rather outcomes such as curing cancer, or splicing the gene
6. Stop wondering and start living

Now that you've read that, you'll probably realize I haven't been much of a help, but I hope that at least I've poked the first hole in your jar of butterflies and that soon they'll almost be completely free.

Before I close I want to note one last thing, I think that amongst all of our purposes there lies one innate goal we should all strive to achieve, and that is (yes, you guessed it) Happiness.

Although it may seem simple, I believe happiness is one of the hardest things to achieve because we not only must fight outside conflicts but the conflicts that reside within ourselves that prevent us from accepting the fact that we do deserve happiness.

Now if only we could find it in the palms of our hands...

I leave you,

Good night moon, good night mouse, good night lady, good night house,

Analisa

*Or do we?
**Yes I actually did write that. I sound like a cheesy self help book. ~facekeyboard~
